Injuries reported after Dutch police fired warning shots during protest in Rotterdam over Covid-19 measures

“A demonstration on the Coolsingel led to riots. Fires were set in various places, fireworks were set off and the police fired several (warning) shots,” said the Rotterdam police in a tweet.

“There are injuries related to the shots fired,” the police added, noting that police officers “are on the scene in large numbers and are trying to restore order”.

According to the police, access to Coolsingel – a popular street in the center of Rotterdam – and local metro stations is also restricted, with water cannons in the area.

This is a story in development and will be updated.
