Israel-based Watergen, which produces water from air, said Wednesday it is moving its four production facilities in the United States and China (two each) to start a plant in India.

Through this 50:50 JV, Watergen and SMV Jaipuria will introduce Atomospheric Water Generators (AWG) product categories in India that create high quality, mineralized, safe drinking water out of the surrounding air, everywhere, the companies said.

The JV company will be named Watergen India Pvt Ltd, and both units will make an initial investment of up to $ 50 million over the next few years.

Maayan Mulla, CEO, Watergen India, spoke on the sidelines of his JV with SME Jaipuria. Business line that India is a more favored destination in terms of making affordable products, and more than 90 percent of the products will be manufactured locally and exported to more than 90 countries from here.

Price and capacity

He said that 1,000 units of the Watergen products were exported to several countries from these four factories, which will now be exported from India when the company starts its production from here. Apart from the USA and China, the company has its main facility in Israel together with research and development laboratories.

Asked where the company plans to set up its plant, Chaitanya Jaipuria, Director, SME Jaipuria Group, said: “We are discussing a few sites, but nothing has been finalized yet. We will do anywhere it is best suited for. to set up the facility … we are in negotiations with more than 10 states. “

With their capacities of between 30-6,000 liters per. Today, the prices of these products are estimated to start from 2.50 lakh, which can even go up to crores, depending on the need (commercial buildings, hospitals, villages, factories), he said.

“We are confident that with Watergen we will be able to make safe drinking water of the highest quality available to people from the most remote village communities to commercial office buildings for private homes,” Jaipuria added.

SME Jaipuria Group has various interests in food and beverage, real estate, textiles and specialty chemicals. It is affiliated with PepsiCo and Raymond as their master franchise / franchisee.
