Kevin Byard activated from COVID-19 reserve list

The Tennessee Titans activated Reserve/COVID-19 list safety Kevin Byard on Tuesday.

The 5-foot-11, 212-pound Byard was placed in the COVID-19 reserve last week at the start of the team’s farewell week.

The former Middle Tennessee State star has made 64 tackles, 12 passes, five interceptions, one force fumble and one sack this season. The sixth-year player was a 2017 All-Pro roster.

The Reserve/COVID-19 list is for players who either test positive for the virus, regardless of vaccination status, or who have been in close contact with an infected person or people as an unvaccinated person.

Byard revealed in the summer that he had been vaccinated, so his placement on the Reserve/COVID-19 list indicates that he tested positive for the virus. Vaccinated individuals can return to the active roster with two negative tests within 48 hours.
