Kim Jong Un has appeared in public with a dark patch, sometimes covered with a small bandage, on the back of his head – sparking more speculation about the downsized North Korean despot’s health.
The mysterious site was visible both during a military event and in footage from a war veterans conference Kim attended late last month. according to NK News, which provides news and analysis about the rogue regime.
During his previous public appearances at a politburo meeting on June 29 and with musicians on July 11, the mysterious site was not seen, according to the newspaper.
Official images appeared to avoid the mark on Kim’s head last month, although NK News reported that photos from state media showed the connection.
The head-scratcher is the latest physical episode to draw attention to the secretive despot’s health after footage emerged showing the 37-year-old has lost a good deal of weight.
A Pyongyang resident recently made headlines when he told state media that North Koreans were heartbroken by the “starved looks” of the former 308-pound leader.
The 38 North website, which analyzes the Hermit Kingdom, reported that, according to the report, Kim may have taken weight-loss drugs or had bariatric surgery, such as a gastric sleeve or gastric bypass.
Others have suggested that the COVID-19 pandemic may have prompted him to… drastic health action because his morbid obesity and probable cardiovascular disease are risk factors.
Kim has also shown weird signs on his body before.
During a May 2020 performance, after a long absence that led to speculation that he had suffered a heart attack or died, a dark spot on his arm led medical experts to suggest it was linked to heart problems, NK News reported. The mark is still visible but has faded.
Kim also had an apparently bruised finger at a politburo meeting in June 2021, a bandage on his finger in June 2019 and a bandage on his wrist in November 2015.
