Knox County sees nine more COVID-19 cases, CDC reports Saturday – Knox County VillageSoup

Knox County saw nine additional COVID-19 cases in the past day, the Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention reported on Saturday, Sept. 24.

Testing at the Rockland Wastewater Treatment Plant from Sept. 15 showed a second week of a decrease in the amount of virus in the community’s wastewater.

Since the pandemic began in Maine in March 2020, 7,374 Knox County residents have been diagnosed with the virus (excluding results of home tests), 109 have been hospitalized and 44 have died.

Statewide, an additional 287 cases were reported in the past day. There were three additional deaths reported statewide on Sept. 24, taking the number to 2,573.

There were five additional people statewide hospitalized in Maine with COVID-19 in the past day, rising to 5,762 since the pandemic began in March 2020.

The CDC reports that 165 Mainers are currently hospitalized with the virus, up from earlier in the week. The peak was 436 in early January. Of the 165 hospitalized, 27 are in intensive care units and seven on ventilators. Forty-seven intensive care beds are available in Maine.
