Late. Collins appears in public for the first time after COVID-19

BATH, Maine (AP) – U.S. Senator Susan Collins appeared Monday for the first time since receiving COVID-19 earlier this month, visiting Navy shipbuilder Bath Iron Works with the Navy’s top officer.

Collins, R-Maine, and the U.S. Rep. Jared Golden, D-Maine, joined CEO Michael Gilday, Chief of Naval Operations, to tour the future USS Carl M. Levin and visit crew members.

Collins was the third member of Maine’s congressional delegation to test positive for COVID-19 during the pandemic. Her office announced on April 7 that she was working remotely after receiving a positive test.

The shipyard visit comes a little more than a week after the shipyard’s president Dirk Lesko abruptly resigned. No reason was given for his departure.
