Do you prefer face-to-face meetings? Are you having trouble getting through a phone tree or finding what you need online? Many of our customers receive social security pension benefits, social security disability benefits and various other benefits provided through the Social Security Administration (“SSA”). Recently, Kilolo Kijakazi, the acting Commissioner for Social Security, announced that local social security offices would resume personal services on April 7, 2022, including offering services to individuals without agreements. According to SSA’s closure and emergencies Homepageall offices in Wisconsin are open from this time.
Despite the fact that SSA is reopening its doors to the public, SSA recommends and encourages the use of their services by calling 1-800-772-1213 or their online services at ssa.gov and my social security. To avoid personal delays and longer than preferred waiting times, they also encourage scheduling appointments instead of walk-in, unplanned appointments.
If you choose to visit your local SSA office in the near future, you can expect to find the following COVID-19 precautions: required physical distancing, masking, and self-health check for COVID-19 symptoms.
