Madison Catholic Diocese tells parishes not to hold COVID-19 vaccine clinics

Diocese instructs 102 parishes not to organize clinics in their schools and churches

The Catholic Diocese of Madison has instructed its 102 parishes not to host coronavirus vaccination clinics in their schools and churches.

The diocese’s directive follows federal measures that recently made children ages 5 to 11 eligible for the pediatric vaccine.

Diocese spokesman Brent King said the diocese wants to maintain its “neutrality” on whether or not to approve any of its vaccines for children and adults.

“The diocese has and will not address the polarizing and political environment surrounding this issue, especially as it could put pressure on individuals to act against their conscience,” King said in a statement.
