Majority of Hawks can still avoid match day COVID-19 testing

That means they’re avoiding the match day COVID-19 test that the NBA reinstated as of December 1 for players and Tier 1 staff who choose not to receive a booster. In November, the NBA began recommending booster shots for players and Tier 1 personnel (staff regularly on the team) to help reduce breakthrough infections.

Heading into the 2021-22 season, the Hawks’ roster was fully vaccinated, which allowed them to avoid the pre-match day COVID-19 test. Those tests made their schedule a lot harder last season, as players had to test early in the morning before games, even if they had just come home from a road trip the night before.
