Millions of Americans ‘likely’ to get another round of stimulus checks in revised budget proposal this year

CALIFORNIRS could get another round of stimulus checks following a budget proposal in the state.

This comes from Governor Gavin Newsom, who revealed what a record $286.4 billion budget would be for 2022/23.

In addition, the governor of California revealed that the state has a surplus of more than $45.7 billion, which is significantly higher than the $31 billion the state forecast at the end of 2021.

Under the proposal, Mr Newsom aims to provide funding for a variety of areas, including climate change, homelessness, cost of living, health care and education.

Mr Newsom also indicated that there may be another round of stimulus checks even though tax credits were not included in his original proposal.

“We expect in the language of the May revision, when I update the budget, that we will probably get an additional discount for taxpayers,” he said on Wednesday.

And he added that there will be “no new taxes in our budget”.

In 2021, California launched two stimulus programs, which returned a total of $12 billion to state taxpayers.

Mr. Newsom said in November, “How we shaped that historic surplus last year, that’s how we will shape our approach this year.”

Under the latter initiative known as the Golden State Stimulus II Initiative, eligible residents will receive payments valued between $600 and $1,100.

Californians must earn less than $75,000 a year and generally have filed 2020 taxes by October 15, 2021.

Earlier this week, California completed sending its last batch of zip-code-ordered payments under its latest incentive program.

However, we reported on Thursday that California will send up to 100,000 additional payments over the next month.

How many will be sent will depend on a group that does not have one, but has applied for an Individual Taxpayer Identification Number before the October 15 deadline.

That group must file their state return by February 12 to qualify for a GSS check.

According to the Public Affairs Office, the state has made more than 8.2 million GSS II payments worth more than $5.9 billion.

In addition, payments worth up to $5,000 can be claimed this month.
