Minister for Labor, Employment and Social Security Krishna kumar Shrestha and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Minister for Human Resources, Dr. Abdulrahaman Al Awar, held a meeting on Tuesday.
At a meeting in the UAE’s capital Abudhabi, issues related to the bilateral interests and welfare of Nepalese workers in the UAE were discussed, the Ministry of Labor said.
On the occasion, Labor Minister Shrestha praised the United Arab Emirates government, noting that the latest labor law was in favor of the immigrant workforce.
The two ministers agreed to work in tandem to solve the problems of stranded Nepalese who came to the UAE on visitor visas to tempt for employment and bring the culprits to justice.
As informed, the UAE government will help book culprits and institutions that brought people to the UAE on visitor visas with false promises of employment.
Also on the occasion, Minister Awar expressed his commitment to establishing a training center for competence development and helping to produce competent human resources by investing in capacity building.
According to Minister Shrestha’s secretariat, the UAE minister also promised to provide support in Nepal’s bid to set up a workers’ hospital on the same occasion.
The two ministers also discussed the issue related to social security, workforce safety, health and insurance and increasing the remuneration of Nepalese workers in the UAE.
