New Orleans is expected to address the fate of the COVID-19 vaccine mandate

The fate of the last remaining local coronavirus mandate in New Orleans will be decided on Monday. New Orleans still has proof of vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test rule in place to enter most public places. The city hinted last week that officials are likely to let this rule expire. New Orleans communications director Beau Tidwell said last week that the measures introduced for Mardi Gras appeared to have worked. Last week, for the first time in two years, Gov. John Bel Edwards dropped the nationwide emergency declaration on public health. Some federal coronavirus guidelines remain in place, including a mask requirement for public transportation.
