New payment of $285 to be issued next week |

Another round of incentive checks would be released next week for nearly half a million American citizens, and the payment would be worth $285. This payment, scheduled for Nov. 15, is eligible for people in the state of Maine.

In a press release on Wednesday, Maine Governor Janet Mills stated that the hardworking women and men who have worked tirelessly to ensure the state functions well during the pandemic certainly deserve a great deal of their appreciation.

With the bipartisan budget passed by lawmakers and signed by the governor himself, the government would issue a one-time $285 stimulus check to about half a million working people in the state. Mills hopes this payment will help the families to some extent during the holiday season as they try to recover from the effects of the pandemic on their economy.

The one-time payment of $285 will be sent to approximately 524,754 people statewide from November 15 through the end of 2021.

Another incentive check included in this is the Disaster Relief Payment which will be handled by the Department of Administrative and Financial Services. It is said to be part of a budget deal passed by the Maine state legislature to help people who worked hard during the pandemic last year.

Under the Disaster Relief Payment Program, the state’s tax advisor would be required to identify each eligible citizen and then determine the amount of payment – up to a maximum amount of $300.

The funding allocated to Maine is $149.8 million, which, when divided by approximately 524,754 individuals, equates to a stimulus check payment of $285.46.
