Oakland A’s has seven players on COVID-19 IL, MLB’s biggest outing of the season

That Oakland Athletics Monday, before their home opening against Oriolesplaced six more players on the COVID-19-related injury list, including Austin Allen, Jed Lowrie, Chad PinderAJ Puk, Kirby Snead and Lou Trivino, said the club. The A’s last Friday had set the player Stephen Piscotty on the COVID list.

In total, the A’s are now missing seven players due to COVID issues, the biggest outburst in MLB this season.

They had also placed Allen, Puk and Snead on the limited list before a series in Toronto against Blue Jays. MLB players are required to prove they have been vaccinated to enter Toronto, according to Canadian law. Allen, Puk and Snead did not travel with the team to Toronto.

The A’s added left-hander Sam Selman and infielder Nick Allen and Christian Lopes to their roster as substitutes. They joined the left hand Zach Logueright-handed Ryan Castellaniprisoners Christian Bethancourt and infielder Drew Jackson as substitutes.
