Oakland As put AF Stephen Piscotty on COVID-19 IL, 3 others on restricted list

TORONTO – Den Oakland Athletics placed outside player Stephen Piscotty on the COVID-19 injury list and put catcher Austin Allen and left-handers AJ Puk and Kirby Snead on the restricted list before Friday’s game in Toronto.

To enter Canada, the Canadian government requires that a person have received another dose of COVID-19 vaccine – or one dose of Johnson & Johnson – at least 14 days before entry.

Players who are put on the sidelines of COVID-19 vaccine problems are not paid and do not earn more league service time while on the restricted list.

Manager Mark Kotsay will not comment on Piscotti’s status.

Oakland added left-handed player Zach Logueright-handed Ryan Castellaniprisoners Christian Bethancourt and infielder Drew Jackson as substitutes.

Toronto traded Snead, Logue and two other players to Oakland in March for third baseman Matt Chapman.

Athletics outfielder Luis Barrera approved waivers on Friday and was awarded Triple-A Las Vegas.
