Pakistan today hosts US, China and Russia to meet in Afghanistan

Islamabad [Pakistan]Nov. 11 (ANI): Pakistan will host senior diplomats from the United States, China and Russia in Islamabad on Thursday to discuss the situation in Afghanistan.
The meeting will take place a day after India chairs the Delhi Regional Security Dialogue, in which seven countries participated – Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz Republic, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan – national security chiefs. Both meetings will focus on Afghanistan.
Pakistani Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi and his national security adviser Moeed Yusuf will chair the ‘Troika Plus’ meeting. The representative of the four countries will also meet with Afghanistan’s acting foreign minister Amir Khan Muttaqi, Dawn reported.
Muttaqi arrived in Islamabad on Wednesday. It is the first visit by an Afghan minister to Pakistan since the Taliban took Kabul in August.
“Troika Plus at SRs (Special Representatives Level) will meet Muttaqi,” the Pakistani official said.

The dialogue is taking place at a time when the Taliban is seeking international recognition. However, the international community is in no rush to give legitimacy to the interim Taliban government unless they keep their promises.
“Troika Plus has become an important forum for cooperation with the Afghan authorities. It will show its support for an inclusive government, discuss ways to prevent a humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan, as well as the protection of human rights, especially women’s rights,” it said. the officer.
This is the first full-fledged meeting of the Troika Plus after the Taliban takeover of Afghanistan.
The last of this format took place in August in Doha, where the US was represented by former Special Envoy to Afghanistan Zalmay Khalilzad.
Another meeting was called by Russia in Moscow on October 19, but the US did not participate citing “logistics”. (ANI)
