A petition in support of a controversial policy at an elite girls’ school to allow anyone who identifies as female, regardless of their gender identity, has garnered hundreds of signatures.
Last week, Harpeth Hall in Nashville, Tennessee, in an email to parents, announced a new “Gender Diversity Philosophy,” allowing “any student who identifies as a girl” to apply to the school.
On Thursday, the school paused policy after facing backlash from community members. Subsequently, a letter from parents, alumnae and donors was sent to the Supervisory Board calling for the resignation of all those involved in the implementation of the policy.
