Pittsburgh Steelers rookie George Pickens’ sensational catch takes over NFL Twitter

Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver George Pickens may have made the catch of the year — and we’re only in week 3.

The 21-year-old rookie made a great one-handed reception at 36 yards in the first quarter against the Cleveland Browns on Thursday. Brown’s cornerback Martin Emerson Jr. played a tough defense but Pickens’ offensive effort was just That much better.

It was a much-needed shock to the Steelers offense as it was the team’s longest game of the season so far. Pickens’ catch led to a 5-yard touchdown run by Najee Harris running back to end the drive. Pickens said earlier in the week that he was open “99 percent of the time,” and after seeing that catch, it’s hard to argue with him.

Pickens’ capture drew parallels with receiver Odell Beckham Jr.’s excellent reception. as a rookie receiver nearly eight years ago. He grabbed with one hand while falling out of bounds — and was hindered — against the Dallas Cowboys on Week 12 of the 2014 season.

Seeing Pickens’ incredible hold, Beckham offered his comments on Twitter.

Former NFL receiver Dez Bryant, current Las Vegas Raiders receiver Davante Adams and more also praised Pickens.
