WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) – The positive percentage for COVID-19 in Sedgwick County continues to decline and now stands at 4.8%. The 14-day average has been steadily declining since it peaked in mid-January and has not been so low since mid-July 2021.
The significant data comes when the CDC announced on Friday that a positivity rate below 5% indicates a lower risk of transmission in society.
Sedgwick County reported 36 new COVID-19 cases and no new deaths. Hospital status has dropped to cautious with 98 COVID-19 admissions and 29 of these patients in the intensive care unit.
As for Kansas, there were 1,161 new cases of COVID-19 since Wednesday, 13 new deaths and 81 new hospitalizations.
