BOSTON, MA – The Boston Red Sox today placed the catcher Kevin Plawecki on the list of COVID-19 related injuries. To fill Plawecki’s place on the active list, the club recalled the catcher Connor Wong from Triple-A Worcester.

Plawecki, 31, has played in four games this season, with the Red Sox winning each of its three starts by catcher. The right-handed striker has beaten .297 (74-for-249) with a .757 OPS in 92 games over his three seasons with Boston (2020-22).
Wong, 25, has made four catches on catcher for Triple-A Worcester this season, hitting .250 (4-to-16) with three goals scored. The right-handed striker played six games for Boston last season, his major league debut, hitting .308 (4-to-13) with a double, a triple and an RBI.
