Report: NBA sets deadline for players and staff to receive COVID-19 booster

The NBA has announced that players who have not received their booster COVID-19 vaccine will be subject to gameday testing beginning December 17, according to the athletic‘s Shams Charania.

Additionally, team workers who have yet to receive their boosters will no longer be allowed to interact with players or continue as Tier 1 staff members, per Charania. Tier 1 employees include coaches, umpires and anyone who regularly works within 5 meters of players.

These additional rules come three months after the league issued its COVID-19 protocols for unvaccinated players ahead of the 2021-22 season.

In September, the league announced that players who had been vaccinated would receive much more relaxed restrictions, which would also apply to Tier 1 employees.
