EAST RUTHERFORD, NJ – The Giants welcomed a defensive back as an injury forced them to remove another from their roster.
Safety Logan Ryan was taken off the Reserve/COVID-19 list after missing the last two games, against Tampa Bay and Philadelphia. He will take up the roster space vacated by cornerback Darnay Holmes, who was placed on the injured reserve with a rib injury.
Ryan, one of the team’s defensive captains, had a team-long streak of 24 consecutive starts and led the Giants with 72 tackles (47 solo) when he got on the reserve list two weeks ago. Linebacker Tae Crowder has since taken charge of the team with 79.
Ryan will return to the lineup when the Giants play in Miami on Sunday.
In his absence, Julian Love played all 145 defensive snaps against the Buccaneers and Eagles.
Holmes played in all 11 games this season with four starts. He was injured after intercepting Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts two days ago, his first pick of the season and second of his career. Holmes also has 29 tackles (20 solo).
