SAN JOSE, California (CROWN) – San Jose Mayor Sam Liccardo announced Monday that he was testing positive for COVID-19. He said he has not experienced any severe symptoms.
“After feeling under the weather tonight, I tested positive for COVID-19. I’m grateful that my vaccination has prevented severe symptoms so far. I urge everyone to get vaccinated, mask themselves indoors and use free COVID- tests to help reduce the spread and risk of severe symptoms, ”said Liccardo.
Liccardo has had his hands full recently after city employees have been charged with misdemeanor. Questions range from a police officer allegedly masturbating in front of victims of crime to former San Jose inspector William Gerry, who was sentenced to 35 years in prison for soliciting bribes and extorting sex from owners of massage parlors.
“It’s clear that something went wrong with each of these two cases and that we need to do better,” Liccardo said.
