NEW DELHI: Labor reforms are steadily advancing as at least 17 states have pre-drafted rules for four labor laws on pay, social Securitylabor market conditions and occupational safety, health and working conditions (OSH), according to the economic study 2021-22, presented in Parliament on Monday.
“As of January 11, 2022, 26 states / ICTs have also pre-published the draft rules under Salary code22 states / UTs below Working conditions code“20 states / UTs under the Code on Social Security and 17 states / UTs under the OSH & WC Code,” it said.
In 2019 and 2020, 29 core labor laws were merged, rationalized, and simplified into four labor laws, which included the Code on Wages, 2019, the Industrial Relations Code, 2020, the Code on Social Security, 2020, and the Occupational Safety, Health. & Working Conditions Code, 2020.
“The new laws were in line with the changing trends in the labor market and at the same time met the minimum wage requirement and the welfare needs of the disorganized sector workers, including the self-employed and migrant workers, within the framework of the legislation,” the study said. to rules for all four codes. States are now required to draft rules on their part, as labor is a parallel issue, it added.
