The Social Security Administration offers Americans an online service to help them manage their social security.

This service allows you to check any type of social security business you may have with SSA.

This may include your retirement benefits or SSI and SSDI.

Visit My social security page to create your account.

How to change your name on your card

Any information collected by SSA from you is legally protected by the Privacy Act of 1974, according to SSA’s website.

Login.gov and ID.me are also options for accessing your my account.

If you have IDs with one of these devices, you can use them to visit your account.

The My Social Security page allows you to log in with them.

Beware of scammers who say your SSN or account has a “problem”

You can also register accounts at Login.gov or ID.me if you do not already have one.

You can choose to do so from the login page, where you will then be redirected to create that account. You will then be taken back to the My Social Security page.
