State Sen. Michelle Hinchey, D-46th District, announced via Twitter on Thursday that she had tested positive for COVID-19.
Hinchey, who has been vaccinated, said she has called her local health department and is in isolation.
“Because I have been vaccinated, my symptoms are mild, easily mistaken for a cold or severe allergies,” she said in the tweet. “If you’re experiencing any of these symptoms, getting a COVID test is the best thing you can do for your family, friends and neighbors.”
Hinchey gave no further details in her tweet.
Hinchey follows protocols from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, along with her local health department, Biannca Coppola, the senator’s communications director, said in an email Friday afternoon.
“Our office has postponed all events requiring the presence of the senator to a later date,” she said.
