Susan Collins is due to appear in public for the first time after contracting COVID-19
BATH, Maine – US Senator Susan Collins is making her first public appearance since receiving COVID-19 earlier this month.
On Monday, the Republican from Maine will visit the Navy’s shipbuilder Bath Iron Works with the Navy’s chief officer.
She and CEO Michael Gilday, Chief of Naval Operations, tour the future USS Carl M. Levin and visit crew members.
Collins was the third member of Maine’s congressional delegation to test positive for COVID-19 during the pandemic. Her office announced on April 7 that she was working remotely after receiving a positive test.
The shipyard visit comes a little more than a week after the shipyard’s president Dirk Lesko abruptly resigned. No reason was given for his departure.
