
Tennessee COVID-19 cases, infections more than doubled in March 2022
The constant, upward trend of COVID-19 Infections in Tennessee and Davidson County continued again last week, according to recently released figures from the state.
According to the Tennessee Department of Health, the seven-day average of new cases across the state was 517 for the week ending April 30, up from 405 for the week ending April 23. That is more than double the seven-day average of 192 reported three weeks before.
In Davidson County, the seven-day average was 100.1 for the week ending April 30, up from 81.6 the week before and more than double the figure reported three weeks ago.
The nationwide average test positivity rate (frequency of people being tested and positive for COVID-19) last week was 8.57%, up from 6.6% the week before and 3.9% the week before that. The seven-day positive percentage in Davidson County was 10.8% up from 9% a week before and 8.2% a week before that.

State public health agencies have counted more than 2 million cases of COVID-19 in Tennessee since the onset of the pandemic. Of those, 26,170 have died as a result of the new coronavirus.
About 54.5% of Tennesseans have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The national average is 66.2%.
