YACOLT – The Washington Department of Corrections on Monday reported three active COVID-19 cases among inmates at the Larch Corrections Center.
That number had dropped from eight last Friday. There were no active cases among the staff, down from two last Friday, according to the DOC.
The minimum security prison near Yacolt was placed on facility-wide outbreak status on Feb. 7 after four inmates in the residential unit tested positive. At the peak of the outbreak, on February 18, there were 97 active cases among inmates.
To date, 416 inmates and 71 employees have tested positive for Larch, according to the DOC. The majority of these cases came during an outbreak in late 2020, in which more than 90 percent of the incarcerated population tested positive.
In February, the latest available data, Larch’s average daily population was 203, with a capacity of 240.
