LA CROSSE, Wis. (WEAU) – The Mayo Clinic Health System in La Crosse announces it will close its COVID-19 test site.
According to the release from the Mayo Clinic Health System, the site is located in the former Occupational Health Building at 630 10th Street in La Crosse. The last day for COVID-19 testing at this location is March 7th.
“This is a step in the right direction as we begin to return to general hospital and clinic operations,” said Joannie Schmidt, Nursing Administrator for the COVID-19 test site. “We have reached a point in the pandemic where we can manage testing in our daily operations. Primary care providers and staff are well prepared to handle COVID-19 testing and are able to accommodate the amount of patients who need it. such care. “
The Mayo Clinic Health System says in their release that patients who are symptomatic or need testing for travel purposes will be offered COVID-19 testing at primary clinic locations from March 8th. Patients who need COVID-19 testing before a procedure will be terminated either at the ward performing the procedure or at their regional primary clinic, if preferred.
The Mayo Clinic release states that Pfizer and Moderna COVID-19 vaccinations will remain available by appointment at all Mayo Clinic Health Systems primary practice sites. The Johnson and Johnson vaccines are no longer available at the Mayo Clinic Health System.
Mayo Clinic Health Systems’ hospitals in La Crosse and Sparta also announce that they will resume normal visiting hours on March 8. Visitors will be welcome daily from 7:00 to 21:00. Patients and visitors should wear a medical grade mask. The rules for two-person visitors remain in place.
