Lawmakers in the state of Illinois have proposed a one-time stimulus check worth $200 as a way to help families before Christmas.
Republicans in the House of Representatives made the proposal.
If passed, individual applicants earning less than $75,000 will receive a $200 payment, and joint applicants earning less than $150,000 will receive $400.

GOP state representative Tom Demmer says it’s about doing what federal controls have done for their residents.
He explained that while it’s not enough money to solve everyone’s problems, it can be enough to make a positive impact. It can cover bills or take an extra week of grocery shopping.
California residents can expect another round of checks for $1,100 on Nov. 29, just in time for Christmas shopping.
9 million Californians can expect cash payments from the Golden State Stimulus II program.

They must earn between $1 and $75,000 annually and have filed their 2020 taxes by October 15.
Payments are sent in batches based on the filer’s zip codes on their tax return.
Californians with zip codes ending in 585-719 will see their checks shipped between Nov. 29 and Dec. 13.
Social Security beneficiaries will see an increase in their monthly payments from January 2022.
The boost will push the average check to about $1,600 a month thanks to the increase in COLA this year.
A 5.9% jump will be seen in 2022, the highest since 1982.
