Todd Bowles does not know when Tom Brady can return from leave

Tom Brady isn’t in the building and Buccaneers coach Todd Bowles doesn’t seem to know when he’ll be back. The legendary quarterback is currently absent from the team, and Bowles told reporters “We’ll see” and “We’ll talk about it next week” as to when he could return.

Brady’s absence started last week and the team said it was “to handle some personal stuff”. At the time, Bowles said the quarterback “will not be here until after Tennessee.”

That Tennessee matchup will be played on Saturday, but after two days of joint training with the Titans, Bowles said he doesn’t have an exact date for when Brady would be back.

“I’m not worried about it at the moment. We’re trying to practice against Tennessee and play a game,” Bowles said on Thursday. “I said sometime after Tennessee. There is no definite date for me. We’ll check, we’ll keep in touch and figure it out.”

Brady did not play in the Tampa Bay preseason opener against the Dolphins and it is not yet known whether he will play in the preseason final against Indianapolis.

While Brady and the Bucs may have previously agreed on an exact return date, Bowles admitted on Thursday that he was not aware of it. If an exact date isn’t agreed upon, the Bucs may avoid the appearance of setting a public deadline for the end of his leave, so as not to create a headline if he isn’t back by that date.
