Two NE WI Counties Grow in Critically High COVID-19 Activity Levels, Total Delta Cases Surpass 17k | WFRV Local 5

The Wisconsin Department of Health Services has reported 864,190 total positive coronavirus test results in the state and 8,964 total COVID-19 deaths.

Of the SARS-CoV-2 variants in Wisconsin, DHS reports 3,742 known cases of B.1.1.7 (Alpha), 77 cases of B.1.351 (Beta), 17,470 cases of B.1.617.2 (Delta), and 301 cases of the P.1 variant (Gamma).

DHS recently announced an effort to verify the statistics and ensure they are accurate, some numbers can be changed. DHS combs through current and past data to ensure accuracy.

DHS is working on a fix for an error and will update hospital data as soon as it becomes available. Currently, the data update is from November 17.

Wisconsin hospitals report that the 7-day moving average of hospitalized COVID patients was 1,110 patients. Of this, 302 are on an IC. ICU patients constituted 10.8% of hospitalized COVID patients.

DHS reports that 7,615,761 vaccines and 972,208 booster doses have been administered in Wisconsin.

As of Wednesday, Nov. 24, DHS reports from Wisconsin’s 72 counties, 30 counties are experiencing critically high COVID-19 case activity levels, 42 are at very high levels, while no counties are in the high, medium, or low range.

Two counties in northeastern Wisconsin — Brown County and Waupaca County — are seeing growth in critically high case activity levels.

Counties in northeastern Wisconsin that see no significant change in critically high levels include Calumet, Manitowoc, and Outagamie County.

Of the counties in Northeast Wisconsin that are shrinking in critically high cases of activity levels, Marinette County is the only county where the number of cases has declined.

Kewaunee County is the only county in northeastern Wisconsin to see growth in very high case activity levels.

Counties in northeastern Wisconsin see no significant change in the activity levels of very high cases — Door, Green Lake, Menominee, Oconto, Shawano, Waushara and Winnebago counties.

A county in northeastern Wisconsin, Fond du Lac County, is shrinking at very high activity levels.

There are no counties in northeastern Wisconsin with high, medium, or low activity levels.

The activity level is determined by combining the case load and trajectory indicators.
