UNCW Student Health Center announces “drop-in” vaccine clinics and COVID-19 testing

Thursday 11 November 2021

UNCW Student Health Center will host two “drop-in” vaccine clinics for individuals interested in receiving a vaccine or booster before the Thanksgiving holiday. No appointment is necessary and everyone is welcome. There are no costs.

The clinics are scheduled for:

  • Friday 12 Nov. from 08:30-11:30 and from 13:00-16:00 in the Student Health Center
  • Friday 19 Nov. from 08:30-11:30 and from 13:00-16:00 in the Student Health Center
All three vaccines (Johnson & Johnson, Pfizer-BioNTech and moderna) and boosters will be available. You must remain in place for 15 minutes after receiving the vaccine. Vaccines, including boosters, are available while supplies last. As a reminder, the UNCW vaccine clinic will only serve those 17 and older. For additional information and resources on vaccines, visit the: All the best for the Nest website or email [email protected].

With Thanksgiving approaching, many Seahawks plan to gather with friends and family. We strongly encourage anyone planning to travel or gather with others to get tested for COVID-19 two to three days before you plan to travel to reduce the chances of parents, siblings, other family members and friends take the virus home with them.

Testing is available, for those without symptoms, at the MAC gym in the Student Recreation Center and Warwick Ballroom 4 on Monday, November 22 and Tuesday, November 23 from 8:30 AM-11:30 AM and from 1:30 PM to 4:30 PM Wednesday, November 24, tests will be available in Warwick Ballroom 4. Students with symptoms should call the health center at 910.962.3280 to make an appointment. The university’s quarantine and isolation areas will be open and operational over the Thanksgiving weekend as needed.

As a reminder, a community testing site is available in the Trask parking lot, Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., offering free COVID testing for symptomatic and asymptomatic individuals. This provides accessible testing for Seahawk family members, educators, and staff who may be showing symptoms. Please note that during Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years Day, the campground is only open on Mondays and Wednesdays. This site offers both rapid and PCR testing. Visit the NC Department of Health and Human Services website for more information about free test sites.
