Data from the Texas Department of State Health Services shows that the hospitalization rate in Trauma Service Area B (the greater Lubbock/South Plains region) was 8.27 percent as of the last update provided on Tuesday, Nov. 16.

The City of Lubbock also released the following statement regarding planned changes to its COVID-19 dashboard and social media reporting:

In the coming weeks, the state of Texas and the city of Lubbock will make changes to its public health monitoring data systems. This is intended to end the number of COVID-19 cases in 2020 and 2021 and to align the system with federal reporting requirements. This update will lead to changes in the data reported on the COVID dashboard.

After today, the city of Lubbock will only post COVID numbers on our social platforms on Mondays. The dashboard is still being updated daily. Our reporting schedule is subject to change if there is a significant shift in our number of COVID cases.
