WASHINGTON, Nov. 16 (Reuters) – US National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan said on Tuesday that US involvement in China will increase on multiple levels to ensure competition between the two powers does not turn into conflict.
“You’ll see an intensification of engagement on multiple levels to make sure there are guardrails around this league so it doesn’t come into conflict,” Sullivan said in a Brookings Institution webinar.
Sullivan spoke hours after the virtual summit between US President Joe Biden and his Chinese counterpart, Xi Jinping.
