US takes steps to strengthen trade ties in Asia to counter China’s influence

WASHINGTON — US trade and commerce officials are meeting their counterparts in Japan, South Korea and India — but not China — this week as the Biden administration looks to build stronger economic ties with friendly countries in Asia.
