Washington County, Tennessee. Schools update COVID-19 protocols | WJHL

WASHINTON COUNTY, Tennessee (WJHL) — Pending new legislation from Governor Bill Lee to be signed soon, the Washington County school system, Tenn. updated their COVID-19 protocols.

According to a release from the school system, students, staff and visitors are no longer required to wear face coverings unless they choose to do so.

In accordance with the new protocols of the Johnson City school system, the Northeast Regional Health Department will be solely responsible for tracing contacts related to COVID-19 cases.

The press release adds that Washington County Schools “will continue to follow all authorized measures to prevent the spread of a communicable disease that could endanger the health of an individual or others in the mainstream school environment.”

If a student or employee has a communicable disease that could endanger their health or the health of others in the school, the individual will be banned from the school environment until they have verification from the physician or the County Health Department that the disease is no longer transmissible is, according to the edition.
