Weekly COVID-19 update notes 1,268 active cases, 10 hospitalized

The Amarillo Public Health Department’s COVID-19 update notes that 1,268 cases were considered active, with an increase of 220 new COVID-19 cases, in the weekly COVID-19 report card released late Friday.

According to the report, the 220 new COVID-19 cases equate to a seven-day average of 31 new cases, with a seven-day positivity rate of 7%.

That brings the total number of cases in Potter and Randall counties to 82,238 and the total death toll to 1,305 since the pandemic began in March 2020. According to the APHD’s site, a total of 79,749 recoveries have been reported for the area.

Potter County’s total number of cases since the start of the pandemic rose to 39,886, with 587 active, 38,528 recovering and 771 deaths from the virus.
