When will I receive my Social Security increase in 2022?

The Social Security Administration (SSA) has released its payment schedule for 2022. These payments also include the newly approved increase – a 5.9% cost-of-living adjustment.

Here’s what you need to know about when you’ll receive payments if you qualify for Social Security with the new cost-of-living adjustments, according to GoBankingRates.com.

If your date of birth falls on the 1st to the 10th of the month, you will receive the benefit on the second Wednesday of the month. So in January you would receive your first payment on January 12, 2022.

If your date of birth falls between the 11th and 20th of the month, you will receive the benefit on the third Wednesday of the month. So in January, you would receive your first payment on January 19, 2022.

If your date of birth falls between the 21st and 31st of the month, you will receive the benefit on the fourth Wednesday of the month. So in January you would receive your first payment on January 26, 2022.

If in doubt, you can consult the full overview of next year’s benefits from the SSA guide here.
