Wood County in Wisconsin has the highest rate of COVID of 2021

WOOD COUNTY – Wood County has hit its highest COVID-19 rate of 2021, Wood County Health Department said in a press release on Saturday.

On Thursday, the province had 568 active cases and a seven-day average of 66 new cases per day, the department said.

Due to the large number of people testing positive for COVID-19, the Wood County health department said it is no longer able to contact anyone who tests positive and their close contacts.

Instead, the health department said it is moving to “a crisis model” for informing people who test positive and for tracing contacts. Where previously all contact tracing interviews were done by phone, some people are now offered an online interview option where they can provide information without calling. This option will be sent as a link via text message with contact information for a disease specialist if they have questions or concerns, the press release said.
